Oklahama – OK!

I liked Oklahoma. The drive is lovely (where the wind come whistling down the plains.) It is pretty laid back and certainly affordable.

It is known as the native state as there are quite a lot of reservations. I definitely think that is what you should spend your time doing in this state. The fantastic Chickasaw Cultural centre is a great way to spend the day. Seriously, I would eat there every day if I could.

Visiting Oklahoma is a great opportunity to learn more about the original inhabitants of the country. It is definitely worth a visit and would be an enjoyable day for everyone.

I would rate it 8.3 out of ten.OK statue

Texas – If you are so big where is all your stuff?

Texas spends a lot of time talking about how big Texas is. It has a lot (and I mean a lot) of Texas themed stores. But it doesn’t really have that much stuff. It has a lot of houses that are very similar and a lot of road construction. For a state this large it should have lots more to do.

I think this state fails from the perception gap. People who live in Texas perceive that it is still traditionally Western, but mostly it is just suburban. I think Texas needs to step up its game to better cater for tourists. Seriously you have lots of space. Be cooler.

I would rate Texas 5.6. for tourists. TX bumper

Louisiana – How you haunt my dreams

Louisiana is not like any other state. It is innately cool. The food is so cool it will stay with you forever. It has voodoo, both for tourists and for real. The people are laid back and awesome. The buildings are cool. Evenla alligator

I would love to spend a month here, there is lots to do and even if you just spent the month eating, it would still be time well spent.

Do yourself a favour, go have fun in Louisiana. Try new things. Be cool.

I would rate it 8.4 out of 10.

Plea to Americans

This post is going to be cliché, but it needs to be said. I urge all Americans to explore your country. It is amazing. It is almost unfair how much awesome stuff you have. Please appreciate it.
Here are some of my suggestions for things to do in America to better love and understand it.

See the USS Arizona.
See a Glacier.
Meet Mickey Mouse.
Be hot in death valley.
See the lights of Times Square.
See a baseball game.
See Old Faithful.
Experience the dark in mammoth cave.
Walk in the footsteps of the revolutionaries in Boston.
Go to the Wheatfield
See the white house.
Drive route 66.
See where Custer fell.
Eat gumbo in Louisiana.
See the sunset over the grand canyon.
See the liberty bell.
Eat from a truck.
See the constitution.
See the ocean.
Understand history at the ww1 museum.
See where Mississippi meets the ocean.
Have a taco in the south west.
Stumble upon something great in the mid west.
See the trees of Vermont.
Stand at the end of navy pier.
Eat until you pop in Vegas.
Watch the flag fly over Fort McHenry.
Stay in a haunted hotel.
Talk about roads by numbers not names.
Be soaked in rain in the north west.
Go to where the cowboy films are made.
Drive an endless straight road

Florida UniversalI was a bit disappointed with Florida at the time. I am a big fan of Disneyland and was expecting Disney world to be even more awesome, but it wasn’t.

A holiday in Orlando is stressful. Everyone is running around trying to cram as much fun in for the time and money they have as possible.

In retrospect, I enjoyed it more than I thought I did at the time.

There are some really great experiences at Walt Disney World and lots of fun to be had at Universal.

I think they key is just to go with the flow. Don’t worry if the person next to you is stressed out. Don’t worry if a baby is crying. Don’t worry if this attraction isn’t as good as you thought it would be. Don’t worry if you can’t get into the restaurant you want.

Just have fun moment to moment. Get caught in the rain. Vigorously applaud the cast members. Enjoy the queues.

I would go back to Florida (but not before California!)

I would recommend Florida for people who can be chill about holidays. Don’t go if you are going to be stressed out about it!

I would rate it 8.7 out of ten.
