Day 74 – Death Valley

Death Valley is hot, empty and dry. Technically, It is the hottest, driest, lowest place in North America.

i washed the windshield to try and get some of the bugs off (see picture) and the water had pretty much dried before I could squeegee it off. Just stepping out of the car makes you thirsty.

And yet, the peaks are dusted with winter snow.

There are also lots of dust devils which are very strange things. They are not dangerous, but they are long-lived whirlwinds which vary in size. Many weave their way past you but some, as we saw today, just sit there.

Many cultures feel that they are spirits of some kind, which is completely rational. They have a very otherworldly appearance and movement.
