Arizona is home to the Grand Canyon. While the canyon is very beautiful, it is also very popular which makes it a little harder to appreciate that beauty. I think Arizona is a good place to slow down and look a little harder. Not just go from place to place trying to find the “best view.”
My total score for Arizona out of 50 is 34.
Categories out of 10
Home comforts Quality of food, accommodation, etc. Score of 6. I am a little torn here with my rating, as the food in Winslow was quite good, particularly a the little mexican place close the corner. The food at the canyon, on the other hand was terrible. Same with the accommodation – La Posada was fantastic, but the grand hotel at the canyon was terrible.
Attractions The quality of the attractions and generally how fun and interesting they were. Score of 7. The canyon is amazing, but lots of people are there.
Natural Beauty The aesthetic vistas of the state which make the drive easier. Score of 8. Canyons and mountains galore to look at.
Culture Historical and cultural sites and interactions with the locals. Score of 8. Local Navajo are awesome.
Value Financial value – bang for your buck, so to speak. Score of 5. Grand Canyon is incredible expensive. All food and accommodation around it are way too pricey.
