Florida is a large, strangely shaped state. It is the fourth most populous state at 18 million and has somewhat of a bloody history, particularly in relation to its treatment of native peoples. Now it is a Centre for tourism, particularly very large RVs and those who are retired. Florida seems very loud and busy. People all seem to be trying to cram as much in as possible before their holiday is over.
Incidentally, people of Florida: the term “no flash photography” does NOT mean take as many photographs with flash as possible so it looks like there is lightning inside the building and the “crew” have to cease the show to ask you stop using the flash!
My total score for Florida out of 50 is 31.
Categories out of 10
Home comforts Quality of food, accommodation, etc. Score of 8. The hotel was in the “value category” but I was quite pleased. I would definitely recommend the art of animation resort. The food was quite good as well, reasonable number of healthy choices and so forth.
Attractions The quality of the attractions and generally how fun and interesting they were. Score of 8. Heap and heaps of attractions, though they do vary somewhat in quality. People need to chill out a but more to enjoy them though.
Natural Beauty The aesthetic vistas of the state which make the drive easier. Score of 4. Trees and beaches are nice enough but Florida does not need to have billboards every quarter mile along the highways.
Culture Historical and cultural sites and interactions with the locals. Score of 4. Really nice people, but it is hardly a great centre of culture.
Value Financial value – bang for your buck, so to speak. Score of 7. Not as pricey as you might expect and the packages are really pretty good.
