Born on the Bayou

No, I wasn’t really born on the Bayou, but John Fogerty, hadn’t even been to a Bayou when he wrote the song. So it is fair!

My total score for Alabama and Mississippi out of 50 is 27.

Categories out of 10

Home comforts Quality of food, accommodation, etc. Score of 7. Aside from the fact that

EVERYTHING

is fried in the south (pickles, tomatoes, frogs, etc) the food here is quite good. Lots of fresh seafood and more seafood.

Attractions The quality of the attractions and generally how fun and interesting they were. Score of 4. There are not a heap of things to do in these states. The
visitors centre in Biloxi is the number one thing to do there. However, considering they are still recovering from lots of human made an natural disasters I think they are doing pretty well.

Natural Beauty The aesthetic vistas of the state which make the drive easier. Score of 5. Pretty beaches but also quite urban.

Culture Historical and cultural sites and interactions with the locals. Score of 4. People are super nice, but not lots of history or cultural activities.

Value Financial value – bang for your buck, so to speak. Score of 7. Pretty affordable.
