Lots of fun in NYC, big city but not as intimidating as you might think.
My total score for NYC out of 50 is 32.
Categories out of 10
Home comforts Quality of food, accommodation, etc. Score of 7. Wonderful historic hotel – the Algoinquin. We were certainly very lucky to get this hotel via bidding on Priceline. The food has been reasonable, but not exceptional.
Attractions The quality of the attractions and generally how fun and interesting they were. Score of 8. Lots and lots to do and lots of different activities for different people.
Natural Beauty The aesthetic vistas of the state which make the drive easier. Score of 5. Great city, but a city it is.
Culture Historical and cultural sites and interactions with the locals. Score of 7. Great sites which have lots of historical and cultural value. New Yorkers are not as rude as you might think. New Yorkers do seem to have an odd habit of smoking while in queues or groups of people however, I actually saw someone smoking a cigar in the crowd at Times Square. Not cool.
Value Financial value – bang for your buck, so to speak. Score of 5. Costs are very high, but taxi costs are good. Need to make sure you have extra green in the wallet.
Fun fact:Americans are proud of their “green”cash, but it is very confusing if you are used to different coloured and sized cash -it all looks the same to the inexperienced.
