Alaska is an amazing state, with lots of natural beauty and resources. Much of the work is seasonal, with many tourists coming in summer. Alaskan people certainly seem to appreciate living here. There is lots of focus on managing the snow falls, which seems to be managed very well.
Certainly it remains an untamed land, with many residents living in small towns with limited power and running water.
My rating out of 50 is 37.
Awesome tourist destination, but may require some work to be put in to fully enjoy. Also, bring money.

Quality of food, accommodation, etc.
Score of 5. Accommodation seems to provide the basic standard and does not really “delight”. The food is good but not exceptional. (At least I didn’t eat anywhere very exciting)
The quality of the attractions and generally how fun and interesting they were.
Score of 9. Lots and lots to do in Alaska, but it does require some commitment to gout and find it
The aesthetic vistas of the state which make the drive easier.
Score of 10. Winter wonderland and postcard beautiful.
Historical and cultural sites and interactions with the locals.
Score of 8. It only became a state in 1959 so still young. The locals are very happy to chat about how they feel about Alaska and are very friendly.
Financial value – bang for your buck, so to speak.
Score of 5. Alaska is expensive and everything you do will cost lots.
